Severity: Mild, moderate, or severe

Type: Broad ache or a smaller sharp stab

Duration: Acute episode is one that is sudden and brief, and often related to an injury 


There are various studies looking at the benefits of turmeric, including several that showed turmeric to be just as effective as ibuprofen for reducing inflammation, swelling and pain. However, more research is necessary to confirm these effects.


Apply heat or ice to the painful area. Use ice for the first 48 to 72 hours, and then use heat.
