What is Ayurveda?

 What is Ayurveda??

      Traditional Hindu system of medicine that uses a combination of diet, herbal treatment, yogic breathing to treat illnesses.

Ayurveda is based on the idea that disease is caused by an imbalance in the body, mind, and consciousness. The goal of Ayurvedic treatment is to restore balance through a variety of methods, including:

diet, herbal medicines, exercise, meditation, breathing, physical therapy, yoga, acupuncture, and massage therapy.

 

     Branches of Ayurveda:- 

 1- Kaya chikitsa (medicine)

2-Bhut Vidya- Psychiatry.

3- Shalya Tantra- Surgery.

Shalaka Tantra- ENT and Ophthalmology

5- Kaumarbhritya- Paediatrics and Obstetrics.

7- Aagad Tantra- Toxicology.

7- Rasayan- Rejuvenation therapy and geriatrics.


     Some treatments are as shown in pictures:-

      (1).  Sweden karma:-




Swedana, also known as Sudation Therapy or steam therapy, is an Ayurvedic treatment that involves inducing sweat in the body. It is a common treatment modality in Ayurvedic clinical practice. 

Swedana is used to:

Detoxify: It channels toxins, or amam, to places where the body can easily eject them. 

Relax: It is praised for its relaxing effects. 

Treat disorders: It is used to treat musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, lumbar spondylitis, cervical spondylitis, and sports injuries. 

 


      (2). Rakt mokshan karma :-


       - Also called leach therapy in this we have to put a leach on the area which is having bad or deoxygenated blood or pus etc. They suck out all the bad blood without harming the skin of the patient.

 In this therapy after diagnosing a person, leech is applied to specific body part and is made to stay there. Once the leech finishes sucking blood from the site, then either the leech separates itself or may be separated manually by sprinkling of some herbal medicine.

     (3). Nasya karma:-

 


This is called nasya karma , as you all know that many of doshas are in our head, so to bring them out from our body we have to put some drops of a specific oil treated with medicine into our nasal track , as the oil go through it extract out all dosh from head region .

It's have many benifits like increasing concentration, avoid whiting of hairs , hair damage solution, headache problems, improve eyesight, can be given to a patient with head diseases.


(4). Shiro dhara karma:- 


 Shiro dhara is a process for head related diseases in which a straight dhaara of oil hit forehead of the patient in supine position. This helps a alot to those patients whose are having headaches, early whiting of hairs , damage hairs , poor eyes, helps in improving concentration, make hair stronger and many more benefits from this therapy.
